Stone-cold

Then I realised what they meant by heartbreak.
Your heart throbs, you try to do what you have to.
Then you feel it, the piercing pain in your chest that you cannot seem to control.
The searing cut that leaves you tremoring with your arms around your knees in your bathtub.
The silent scream that you cannot voice.
You try to pick yourself up again.
Then you fall.
Then you get up again.
Everything is suddenly ok again, normal at least.

Then you feel this dull ache in your chest.

This is called heartbreak.

Finally you pick yourself up one last time.
You realise there is no pain anymore, just a stone-cold heart.
